Description

Used widely, MCT oil has become a staple in many health-conscious kitchens. It is derived from coconut oil or palm kernel oil, with ‘MCT’ standing for ‘medium-chain triglycerides’. MCT is a type of fat that your body processes differently from the long-chain fats found in most foods.

Our MCT Oil is primarily composed of caprylic and capric acids. They are known as C8 and C10 medium-chain fatty acids (C denotes the number of carbon atoms). These fats are readily absorbed and metabolized in the liver for energy rather than stored as body fat. As they are metabolized, MCTs are broken down into ketones, which the body and brain can use as an alternative fuel source to glucose for sustained energy.

Before we continue, let’s first make a significant distinction: coconut oil is primarily lauric acid (C12). While technically still an MCT, it appears to be absorbed more slowly and produces a lower peak in ketone bodies than the C8 and C10 MCTs due to its longer carbon chain. That is the key difference between coconut oil and genuine MCT Oil.

Benefits of MCT Oil

Deep energy boost

Unlike other fats that require a lengthy digestive process, MCT oil is quickly absorbed and used by the body. Because MCTs are rapidly converted into energy, these oils are popular among athletes, busy professionals, and anyone seeking sustained energy throughout the day.

Many people take their MCT oil in the morning, adding a tablespoon to coffee or tea for a smooth, creamy texture and an extra boost to their day.

MCT oil beyond beverages

MCT oil can be used in many ways. It works well in smoothies because it provides a silky consistency and blends seamlessly with fruits and vegetables.

You can drizzle it over salads as part of a homemade dressing, mix it into yogurt, or use it in baking as a substitute for other oils.

Because MCT oil remains liquid even when refrigerated and has a neutral taste, it's easy to incorporate into recipes without altering flavors.

A filling ingredient

Many people take MCT oil because it makes them feel full. If you are managing your weight or following specific dietary approaches like ketogenic eating, MCT oil is a helpful ally, providing a sense of fullness and delivering clean-burning fuel that aligns with a low-carb lifestyle.

Mental boost

Many people find that MCT oil supports mental clarity and focus. Students and professionals take it to improve their cognitive performance.

The Right MCT Oil for You

If you want to try MCT oil for your overall wellness:

  • Look for products that primarily contain C8 and C10 fatty acids, as these are considered the most efficient.
  • Start with smaller amounts and gradually increase as your body adjusts to this concentrated source of energy.
  • Check that the coconuts used to produce your MCT Oil were grown sustainably, without harming coastal mangroves.
  • Avoid oils extracted with solvents.

Not worth it

The bottle must have a dripping top part that is made with non toxic material and top lid connected to it and also the oil did not do anything for my dry and peeling skin in the face, that is where I try the oils and subsequently it does nothing for your body too if you ingest it. ---In contrary the sunflower oil from FLORA brand does a great job on my face which looks radiant and so does from inside when I use it for cooking and salads when I consume it.
The olive oil from this brand was bitterish in taste too and another suggestion is that they need to come up with bottles made of non-breakable glass and one part of the bottle must be transparent so that we as consumers see what is inside it,so to maintain transparency for all and put a note there in letters font size 18 saying that do not expose the bottle of oil and especially this transparent side of the bottle on the sun or heat. I hope that they make the necessary improvements! Also it is such a shame that they discontinued the small bottles of 8. 5 oz of sunflower oil ,FLORA HEALTH SHOULD KEEP GOING WITH THEM. . Thank you for your attention!

Is this 1st cold pressed oil?

FloraHealth USA

Hi Donald,
Thanks for the question.
Yes, the MCT oil comes from 1st cold-pressed organic coconut oil.
Once the 1st cold pressing extracts the oil, a centrifuge is used (we do not use any solvent or hexane) to separate the different MCT fatty acid fractions, so that we can offer you the best (true) C8 and C10s, and leave the C6 and C12 (lauric acid) behind.

The result is an extra virgin organic cold pressed unrefined C8/ C10 MCT oil bottled in glass.

All the best,
Flora Health

Hello, Is this good to use on skin when cleaning and/or moisturizing? If so, how do I use? Thank you!

FloraHealth USA

Hi There,

MCT oil can be used topically on the face or body for mild cleaning without stripping moisture, or for sealing in moisture.

For washing the face, it is popular among those who practice "double cleansing".

Double cleansing is whereby an oil or oil-based cleanser is used in a circular motion to first soften or dissolve oils, sebum, and products that stick to the skin, such as stubborn long wearing makeup. Once the sebum in the pores and products on the skin have dissolved into the oil, this is generally wiped away and followed by a more traditional washing process using water and a mild cleanser.

People do use it after the shower or bath to lock in moisture. It is non-comedogenic and due to its naturally anti-fungal properties is one of the few things that can be used even if they have fungal acne or sebborheic dermatitis.

It is also safe for use with pets, for example, cleaning between the digits of the paws or in the ears.

However, we are not skin experts, and we suggest you consult someone who is before use for best results.

Best,
Flora Health
