Hello, I was wondering, do you use solvent extraction? I want to be sure I'm not consuming any chemical residues. Thank you, Brittany

FloraHealth USA

Hi Brittany,
No, we don't use solvents to make this product. It's organic acerola cherries, physically pressed for their juice and then vacuum dehydrated to turn into powder.

What is the difference between a natural vitamin C supplement from acerola fruit and ascorbic acid?

FloraHealth USA

Hi Anat,
A natural vitamin C from acerola fruit contains some bioflavonoids from the fruit as well. Some research shows natural forms of vitamin C absorb better and stay in the body longer than ascorbic acid.

Hi Before I purchase Id like to confirm the analytic testing for your acerola vitamin C. Could you please provide the Certificate of Analysis (COA) for a recent lot and tell me which analytical method was used to quantify vitamin C (e.g., HPLC, titration, DCPIP)? Thanks!

FloraHealth USA

Hi Kerry,

I can contact our Quality Assurance team and enquire about acquiring the most recent COA to share with you. I will then email you.

I can tell you right now what testing is used for that product - we use both HPLC and USP methods on each lot to identify and quantify the natural vitamin C.

Additionally, we perform Visual examinations of the form and color, and Organoleptic examinations of the odor and taste, and get USP BioLumix tests to confirm absence of microbiological contaminants, and US EPA 3050B & ICP-AES / ICP-OES ICP-MS / US EPA 6010B/6010C/6020 /200.7 tests done to control for heavy metals.

Additionally, I can assure you that Flora is a rule follower par excellence around what we promise and what we deliver, and everything is based on stability studies.

I therefore can promise you that you will never get less than the stated vitamin C content of 850 mg, and you will very likely get 900 mg or even 950 mg in a heaping scoop when first opening the product.

I know this because US label regulations specify that during the shelf life of the product, the content of vitamin C can never be below what we indicate on the label but may be over as much as we want.

In Canada, label regulations are that we must be within a certain percentage of the stated dose. For example, it is acceptable to be up to 50 mg over or 50 mg under.

The Acerola powder sold and scoop used are the same in both countries, and our specs help us achieve a level of vitamin C close to 950 at the time of production.

Our US label states 850 mg vitamin C per 3 g heaping scoop while the Canadian label states 300 mg vitamin C per 1 g (which of course is the same as saying 900 mg vitamin C per heaping scoop).

Which we can promise for the life of the bottle based on our studies.

I hope that is reassuring.

All the best,
Flora Health
