The Pain of UTIs

The Pain of UTIs

UTIs. The razorblade-like pain and the pressure…it’s just so uncomfortable.

Many of us know these symptoms well; it is the second-most common infection in the body. 50% of woman will have at least one Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), and 20% will have more than one. Men, your risk of UTIs is much lower, but if you do get one they can be much more serious. The best medicine is preventative medicine. Keeping a balance of good bacteria in the body can help prevent E. coli from growing a colony in your bladder. E. coli is the most common cause of a UTI, and is definitely a type of bacteria you don’t want anywhere near your bladder. But what can you do if you start to feel those familiar symptoms coming on? The urgency, the pressure, and the pain? Many of us run out and grab a bottle of cranberry juice, which can be effective. But is there something better? Something that could speed up recovery?

Happily, the answer is yes! Cran*Essence (US/CA) is a brand-spanking new product and is a mix of cranberry juice and 9 bladder-pleasing herbs.

Some highlights: Uva Ursi – A natural antiseptic that works within hours to kill off the rogue bacteria in your bladder. Juniper – A potent diuretic and antiseptic, and will help flush out bacteria. Calendula flowers – A great addition to this formula. It soothes the tissues of the bladder exactly when you need it. Also, don’t forget to drink lots of water to flush out the bladder. Every time you use the bathroom you flush out a little bit more of that troublesome bacteria. And this isn’t the day to wear your favorite pair of tight jeans. They may look great, but they can create the environment for more bacteria to get into your bladder. Instead, go with loose, comfortable clothing until symptoms pass.
