Low Iron can be Stubborn!

It’s happening all over again. You’re feeling bone-dragging tired, you feel out of breath after running up a few stairs, and there’s so much more hair in the drain.

You’ve seen the signs before, and your doctor confirms it – your iron is low.

Iron is the most common mineral deficiency in the world, and it will affect 1 in 3 menstruating women. This common deficiency is literally sucking the energy out of a huge percentage of people every day.

The cause of low iron is complex, and many people are dealing with more than one cause, making it hard to treat. Common causes of low iron are:

  • Blood Loss – From a heavy period, blood donation, or bleeding in the gut.
  • A diet that’s low in iron – Vegan and vegetarian diets are well-known to be low in dietary iron, but many omnivores also have low iron consumption too.
  • Lack of absorption – Celiac disease and inflammatory bowel disorders can make it hard for the gut to absorb many nutrients, including iron. Low stomach acid can also be an issue.
  • High impact sports – Runners are famously low in iron (including men) because the high impact of running causes damage to some tiny capillaries, releasing a tiny bit of blood with each step. Over time, this can lead to low levels of iron.
  • It’s in your genes – Some people were born with a digestive system that struggles to absorb iron.

No matter the cause, if your iron is low then you need to supplement. It’s extremely difficult to raise iron levels with diet alone, so supplementation is key.

But, low iron can be stubborn! And long-term supplementation (3+ months or longer) is key.

You’ll usually get a prescription from your doctor for a high-dose iron supplement, 100 mg or higher, which can cause black stools, constipation, and nausea. These high-doses can be really hard to take, and I’ve spoken to many people with chronically low iron levels who shy away from taking any iron supplement due to those unpleasant side effects.

This is why I love Floradix. It’s a very absorbable liquid iron supplement that’s kind to the gut and is clinically proven to raise your iron levels.

The amount of iron in Floradix is much lower than the prescription dose, because it’s been formulated to optimize the absorption of iron in the gut. The iron is blended with B vitamins and herbs in a juice base to enhance absorption; it’s no wonder that it’s the top-selling iron supplement in North America.

By using Floradix, my clients are able to bring up their iron levels (and energy!) with this easy-to-take and kind-to-the-gut iron supplement. Don’t forget to also increase your dietary sources of iron, like beans, spinach, and liver too.

If your iron levels are chronically low, look for a safe and easy-to-use daily iron supplement, like Floradix, to bring your iron level up and keep it that way. Your lost energy and vitality are waiting for you!
