Dosages:
EXTERNAL USE:
As a compress to soothe inflammation of skin, insect bites and burning of sores.
Application: Cover area with fat-based cream, apply gauze or cotton saturated with bitters. Cover with plastic and secure with bandage.
INTERNAL USE:
Recommended for relief of bloatedness, flatulence, sluggish bowels and constipation. Stimulate stomach and intestinal secretions, ease that "full" feeling.
Average: 1 tsp diluted with water AM and PM
Individual reactions differ greatly, so the amount must be adapted to personal requirements
Therapeutic: 3-4 tsps daily in a cup of water or herb tea.
May be added to pre-boiled water for a more pleasant flavour.
Cautions:
If diarrhea or cramps occur, intake should be decreased.
Do not take for extended, uninterrupted periods, as the digestive system becomes accustomed to its use, and renders it less effective.
Take a break after 2-3 months for 2-3 weeks.
No known side effects. Occasional reddish discolouration of urine is harmless.
Contra-indications:
Do not use if there is severe liver dysfunction, blockage of bowels, during pregnancy, and nursing.
