Shipping Supervisor

 

Flora Manufacturing & Distributing Ltd. (“Flora”) is currently seeking a Shipping Supervisor for our Burnaby location.

 

Job Description:

 

Shipping Supervisor is responsible for supervising the day-to-day shipping operations for the Burnaby Warehouse. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe work practices of personnel, shipment schedules and delivery monitoring.  Emphasis will be on providing proactive, accurate, cost-effective service to our customers and inter-company branches while maintaining a healthy and safe work environment. 

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee picking and packing lines to ensure conformity to shipping standards
  • Prepare pertinent documentation for shipment of goods
  • Supervise co-workers within the shipping department
  • Prepare and load material in a timely manner so as to meet delivery deadlines and customer commitments
  • Monitor shipment schedules to ensure on-time delivery
  • Ensure the proper maintenance and usage of equipment and machinery
  • Provide direction to the drivers for pick-up and deliveries
  • Liaise with freight companies and inside/outside customers to determine shipping priorities
  • Ensure good housekeeping and safety procedures are maintained in warehouse and shipping area
  • Ensure full compliance of Health & Safety rules
  • Act as a key player in the team by developing and maintaining harmonious professional relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Strive to continually improve performance and productivity
  • Develop, direct, train and motivate employees
  • Provide support and input for all health and safety initiatives 
  • Receive, unload and process inbound shipments
  • Maintain excellence in customer service
  • Picking orders as required

Qualifications:

  • Completion of High School
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience in transport and/or warehousing operations, or otherwise related experience is necessary
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Fork Lift operation certification
  • WHMIS Certification would be an asset
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills in a complex and time sensitive environment
  • Demonstrated ability to multi task with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective service in a client-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated success working in a team environment
  • Able to lift a minimum of fifty pounds

Compensation:  $42,500 - $57,500 + comprehensive benefits package

Purchasing Manager

 

Flora Manufacturing & Distributing Ltd. (“Flora”) is currently seeking a Purchasing Manager for our Burnaby location.

 

Job Description:

 

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the supervision of 2 Purchasers and the administration of the purchasing area which encompasses Canada and the United States of America.

 

Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • All procurement functions: RFI, RFP, RFQ, COA, PO issuance, pre-shipment samples, receipt of materials and QC approval
  • Seek out reliable vendors and suppliers to provide quality goods and services at reasonable prices
  • Negotiate contracts and prices with suppliers and service providers
  • Work with vendors to ensure product availability, delivery scheduling and to solve any pricing or other issues
  • Manage inventory levels
  • Updating records such as MSDS, Vendor book, and Material Status Reports
  • Coordinate materials function with existing purchasing staff and purchasing department
  • Approval of invoices for Accounts Payable purposes
  • The development and maintenance of annual purchasing budget of over $15,000,000
  • Other duties that may be assigned by the Operations Managers of Canada and the USA

Requirements:

  • University Degree or College Diploma with an emphasis on business administration
  • CPP, CPIM or PMAC designation
  • Minimum of 5 years management experience in supply chain
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Experience in contract negotiation and administration
  • International procurement and logistics experience with respect to transportation, duties, NAFTA, etc.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Working experience with an ERP system
  • Proficient in the MS applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Explorer, Outlook, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills with a well developed professional phone manner and a focus on positive, productive business partnerships
  • Strong organizational skills including effective prioritization and follow-up
  • Ability to analyze problems and provide solutions
  • Meticulous attention to detail

Compensation:  $50,000 to $70,000 per annum + comprehensive benefits package

Cost Accountant

 

Flora Manufacturing & Distributing Ltd. (“Flora”) is currently seeking a Cost Accountant for our Burnaby location.

 

Job Description:

 

The Cost Accountant is responsible for performing advanced cost accounting related to material and production costs, cost of sales, and product development costs for both Flora Canada and Flora USA.  This position requires an individual with a solid accounting background and the ability to travel to and from the United States (same day return).

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design a process to build accurate standard costs in fully integrated ERP
  • Determine and allocate overhead rates
  • Maintain product cost data integrity in the system
  • Analyze and report on periodic variances and their causes
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses
  • Cost determination for new or proposed product costs
  • Assist with budgeting process related to manufacturing
  • Participate in year end physical inventory and cycle counts
  • Assist the Financial Controller with various duties as requested

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must have excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Must have excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Must possess a good attitude and work ethic
  • Must be able to work independently and prioritize multiple projects meeting deadlines in a timely and effective manner
  • Must be able to communicate and interact well with co-workers

Requirements:

  • A diploma in Accounting from a recognized institution
  • 3+ years of cost accounting work experience
  • Proficient in MS Applications (with advanced Excel skills)
  • Working experience with ERP systems is a definite asset
  • Familiarity with standard costing in a manufacturing environment
  • Must have reliable vehicle for day trips to the USA

Compensation:  $45,000 per annum + comprehensive benefits package
